Super Real warehouse find

In sorting out my inventory recently I found some old odds and ends that folks might find desirable...

Mainly a bunch of stock on Super Real preview books (and my last stash of copies of the graphic novel):

Super Real SDCC 2003 preview flip book
The very first Super Real book ever available. One side (with the Holly Hood cover) contains 13 pages of an early version of the first issue, the other side (Michael Dasquea cover) has character bios and early promotional art.
BACK cover
FRONT cover
24 pages / B&W (about 200-300 copies?) / ash-can - $10ea

Super Real Las Vegas preview book (2003)
Very rare. Includes 5 page preview from issue 4 (the VS The Comic Book Industry Special) with early versions of that artwork, and also new character bios.

8 pages / B&W (50 copies) / ash-can - $10ea

Super Real Portland preview book (2004)
Very rare. Includes 10 pages of early versions of different issue 1 pages and 2 pages of new bios.

12 pages / B&W (50 copies) / ash-can - $10ea (blank cover), $20ea (with head sketch on cover)

Super Real SDCC 2004 preview book
Previews more closer to finished versions of 19 pages from the first issue (some in just pencil), along with new character bios.

24 pages / B&W (300 copies?) - $10ea

Super Real Larry's Comics preview (2004)
Exclusive to Larry's Comics in Lowel MA. Previews 17 pages (mostly final, but one scene different) from issue 1, along with some extras.

24 pages / B&W (1000 copies - but my stock is very limited) - $20ea

Super Real SDCC 2006 preview flip book
Side A previews issue 3, and side B previews issue 4 (VS The Comic Book Industry) with art by The Boo, and Edward Pun.
FRONT cover
BACK cover
20 pages / B&W (300 copies?) - $10ea

Super Real graphic novel (collected edition - with misprint)
6 by 9 inch trade paperback collection of the entire 7 issue series (one complete story), that's long been sold out. These are like new copies that have a misprint (page 5 is missing and has a duplicate of page 8 in its place, and so pages 5-9 are jumbled).

254 pages / Full Color (about 500 copies? - very few of these misprints in stock/exist) - $20ea

VAMPBLADE season two!!

Following season one’s 12 issue run, which just wrapped up, my genre blending monthly series will resume this March with an all new season two and first issue... which you can pre-order now!

Wielding other-dimensional blades that allow her to cosplay the perfect costume for any situation, comic shop owner Katie Carva continues her secret fight against the hidden vampiric parasites (aka TSD's - translucent space dicks!) that threaten mankind in an all new second season of the popular Action Lab: Danger Zone series!

Perfect for fans of my work, or concepts like Harley Quinn or Ash vs Evil Dead, season two is a great jumping on point, but also continues the kinky and quirky intergalactic parasite slaying story thousands of fans already love.

It’s really exciting to take what we’ve done - along with my amazing creative team of all-pro artistic talents like Winston Young, and Marco Maccagni – and continue that on a larger stage. And now that Katie’s merged with the Vampblades, this new paradigm in season two will just build and expand on things... making the book harder, faster... shinier!

VAMPBLADE: NYCC exclusive cover art

My comic book series Vampblade continues every month, and issue 8, which is due out at the end of the September, will have a special New York Comic Con exclusive cover by yours truly!
This is only the second time I've had my art on the series (man, I gotta draw more!), so I'm pretty excited!!

You can pick it up at the show from the Action Lab booth - 3044
and I hope to be at the show too!

FAN ART: Stranger Things

We binged the show last July like everyone else... such a great mix of all things dark and 80s!

I wanted to do a fan art, but there was so much. I decided a full cast lineup was best, even though that meant drawing 11 plus people!

PRINCE-S STARthief Kickstarter completed and non-Kickstarter version(s) available HERE now!

The Kickstarter I did last year for my new book PRINCE-S STARthief took me some time, but I've now gotten all rewards to the backers (just finished the sketch covers, the last reward to fill, last week)!

And since the backers have all been taken care of, I can now officially make the book available to everyone else.

While the deluxe version of the first book - which included many extras, and cover art exclusive to that edition - was strictly limited to the Kickstarter backers, I do have a standard edition featuring the full first story as well as some new covers, that I can offer to everyone who didn't take part in the deluxe offering.

This new standard edition / comes with 10 covers:

STANDARD cover - features a new version of the Celor cover
$10
MARTIN variant - limited to 25 / features a cover by me
$25
BLANK variant - limited to 25 / features a blank sketch cover
$25

CELOR variant - limited to 50 /  features a new version of the Celor painted cover
available directly from Celor

RETAILER VARIANTS - available directly from Comic Paradise Plus
COMIC PARADISE PLUS variant - limited to 250 / features a cover by Randy "Rantz" Kintz
WV POP CULTURE CON variant - limited to 250 / features a cover by Bill McKay
  • Contact - comics@comicparadiseplus.com

PINUP ARTIST VARIANTS - featuring super limited versions with cover art from the pinup artists
ELSEVILLA variant - limited to 10
GAYLORD variant - limited to 10
NINJAINK variant - limited to 10

available directly from the artists

And then there will be one cover limited to backers of another Kickstarter I have planned.

I'll try and post pricing and contact info for all the books beyond the three that I have. However, you can now get my three versions from my store HERE
(Please, limit one copy to each customer for the limited to 25 books - you can get a sketch from me on the blank cover for an extra $50 for a bust sketch, or an extra $100 for a full sketch)

We will do a full release at a later point, once the book is ready for series release, but until then these are the versions available. Like the Kickstarter books, these will be the low run early versions for collectors and fans.

To stay up to date on PRINCE-S please follow her tumblr HERE
or follow my social feeds (listed up top)
Thanks!

FAN ART: Star Wars the Force Awakens

Loved the movie, especially the new cast and Harrison Ford's last ride as Han Solo! Finally finished up a fan art a little while ago.

Vampblade issue 1 is out today!

My new comic book series, Vampblade, hits stores today.

Created, written, and colored by me, with artwork by Winston Young, Vampblade is an over-the-top schlock fest of kink/gore/fun coming your way monthly if you can handle it!

In the back of the issue I talk about the character's rather long path to her own series. And for those interested, I have listed all the books that I still have from that write-up on eBay. You can see my listings HERE

Which includes the first ever appearance of the character, in Super Real VS The Comic Book Industry (2007)
And her first solo book, the 2010 SDCC Pulp Girls: Vampblade preview book (of which only about 100 were printed, and I only have a couple copies left)

You can also just hit the Vampblade tag here on this blog to see past posts with the character.

The book has been tons of fun to work on, and like everything I do, it aims to have lowbrow fun in as creative a fashion as possible. Please check it out!

Halloween ComicFest interview: Vampblade

My new comic series, Vampblade, will debut this Halloween as part of Halloween ComicFest (Free Comic Book Day for Halloween) in participating comic book shops. Here's an interview I did for the event (and preview of the book, with artwork by Winston Young):

HCF2015: Jason Martin Throws a Monster Bash in Vampblade
Straight from the pages of Zombie Tramp and now the star of her own series, Action Lab's Danger Zone presents Vampblade! Get a sneak peek at this new series before it launches in 2016 with the Halloween ComicFest special issue! She's a comic slinger by day and an inter-dimensional monster slayer by night... or whenever they feel like attacking (monsters have no regard for work hours).

Halloween ComicFest: What is your favorite part about your Halloween ComicFest comic?
Jason Martin: Well, aside from truly loving the story I’m building with this concept, hands down, it has to be my main artist on the title, Winston Young (Zombie Tramp, Zombie Tramp VS Vampblade). The man can flat out draw. Not only does he have a mastery of perspective, and ability for detail, but it’s all filtered through an amazing knack for storytelling and style. He truly brings Vampblade and her world to exciting and engrossing life! And when telling a story that traffics in both the real world, as well as the fantastic, but can also be at times gory and just crazy, you need an artist that can handle all of that.
Hopefully people will be rightfully impressed when they see his Halloween ComicFest pages.
Halloween ComicFest: What can we expect to see in terms of story and art in your Halloween ComicFest title?
Jason Martin: I just spoke about our insanely cool artist in the last question, so here I’ll speak to the story a bit. Vampblade on the surface may seem like a potentially derivative “bad girl” book, and while it is to an extent, it’s also much more than that. I love pop culture and comics, I’m a junkie, and kinda like Tarantino does in film, I like to build new things from the bones of all the coolest stuff I see. So while Vampbladewas born from a literal 90s bad girl mash-up design, I just worked that into her story. So when she wields these supposed prop blades from an 90s indie comic, they actually transform her into that forgotten character, who happens to be crazy, sexy, and powerful, and allow her the ability to use them to destroy other-dimensional parasites secretly feeding on humanity. So, comic book shop employee/geek by day, badass cosplayer/slayer by night!
Halloween ComicFest: Tell HCF fans why they should pick up your comic first during the event.
Jason Martin: If its anything like the Free Comic Book day book we at Action Lab: Danger Zone did last year, it will be one of the most sought after. Since it’s a mature readers book, it will be quite different from the majority of the other ComicFest offerings, and fans looking for something a bit cooler will possibly gravitate towards it. So act fast!
Halloween ComicFest: What are your favorite Halloween, Monster or Horror-themed comics?
I’m a big horror and genre fan, but first and foremost I have to mention Zombie Tramp. Not only do I co-write and color that book, but Vampblade launched from the pages of that title, and shares a similar appeal. Plus, it’s a really fun book, and I was a big fan before I started working on it. I also did a horror-themed book previously, called Night of the 80s Undead, with artist Bill McKay, and I’m kind of partial to that! So yes, fans of horror, Halloween, and monsters will have no shortage of craziness to love in the pages of Vampblade. She dresses up and fights other dimensional monsters, a.k.a. “space vampires!"
What other titles would you associate with your HCF book? “If a comic readers likes___, they should pick up my HCF Title?”
Vampblade has a similar setup to some beloved cult classics: one, Rom Spaceknight, a comic, and the other, They Live, a John Carpenter film. Both of those feature a protagonist that can see deadly threats to humanity all around them, via some device, that otherwise go unseen, and both left a lasting impression on pop culture. Vampblade looks to play with similar themes in the 21st century landscape.
Outside of that, a good example of a current comic whose fanbase may like Vampblade would be Harley Quinn.
