DISAPPOINTMENT of the YEAR
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

I feel like such a tool for nominating two Marvel Comics for comic of the year, but honestly, those are the two books that jump to mind.
The entire list was composed on the fly, I did not sit and analyze the selections. I may go back and rethink some, but who knows...

know what my problem with livewires was? it was a standard adam warren story dropped into the marvel universe, and the idea that it took place in the marvel universe wasn't even there. whereas runaways can exist and reference, yet still be itself.

basically, i have to give props to adam warren for getting away with having marvel print something as cookie-cutter adam warren, and i laugh at marvel for printing it and probably not realizing how cookie-cutter it was.

"Adam Warren, cookie cutter"

thems fightin words!!

do not disparage the great ameri-manga-ka Adam Warren San in such a way!

okay
now I went and did that very thing

dang it

but true, it was perhaps a bit non-Marvel, but I thought that was one of it's strengths. It was pure Adam Warren, with just a touch of Marvel Universe. If that's the downfall of the book, that's not on anyone but readers. It shouldn't matter how much it ties into the "marvel universe proper", just whether it's a good story. And for my money, Adam Warren is one of the most uniquely engaging writer/artists out there.

Ah well.
Wish the dude had a website, what the hell is he up to these days anyway?
