TEE DESIGN: Burgundy Man

Hey look, it’s a 70’s news reporter, with a fancy burgundy suit… in a super style, man!

It's my latest tee design, just in time for the legend to continue!

You can pick it up now on my RedBubble page HERE

This is a mash-up of the famous anchorman and the iconic Superman cover/image (from Superman 14)... replacing the man or steel with the man of salon quality hair!

TEE DESIGN: Cobra Fett!

I've known for ages that I wanted to do some sort of Cobra logo tee of some sort, I just love the red on blue design so much. And for a while I wanted to do a Cobra/Boba Fett mash-up fan art, Cobra Fett, how damn cool is that?!?! But it took forever for it to occur to me that Cobra Fett was the perfect Cobra logo design too!

So here you go. Two of the coolest things from the 80's become one. Geek nirvana you can wear.

I give you, COBRA FETT

I'm quite proud of myself.

Sketchy hardware, and women.

So, haven't posted any art since before NYCC... why? Well, I recently purchased an affordable graphics tablet I'd read lots of good things about, a 6.25x10" from Monoprice. Because, yes, I still use a mouse for all my coloring and graphics work, etc. Sure, I've wanted to get a Wacom tablet, or better yet their Cintiq, but those cost a lot of money. And I actually bought a used Wacom years ago, and never used it (but mainly because I thought a larger size would be good and got a 12x12" - which was way too big).

Anyways, the Monoprice was only around $60 with shipping, so what the heck.

Got it and hooked it up in August, but hadn't spent much time playing with it. However, I started to have problems with my OS and/or my mouse, that got increasingly worse, as I was prepping for NYCC. And to the point where my PC was pretty much useless, and especially in Photoshop. And, Photoshop had even stopped working altogether  after numerous manual power downs having locked up the PC with no mouse or keyboard functionality... it stopped even opening up.

After un-installing and removing the tablet, the obvious offender, and getting rid of my mouse, I got everything to run fine on the PC, but even after un-installing and re-installing Photoshop I had no luck with it. It just hangs and won't open. I even took to the Adobe help boards, but again with no resolution.

Now, I bought Photoshop back in 2003, and I believe it was CS3, so it's probably time to update anyway, and in fact, that's what I've done. Being not too PC savvy, I'm at a dead end to problem solving the issue with Photoshop, so I noticed while being on the Adobe site, that one can download current software for a trial period, and that's what I've done.

So, I can finally start posting some artwork again, as, without Photoshop, I couldn't even save files as web viewable, let alone edit or adjust anything. Now I'm running PS CS6, and having only played with it for less then an hour, I'm already impressed.

Meanwhile, here's some art.
Two sketches I did at NYCC... a surly Wonder Woman, that sold at the show, and since I liked the idea of that one so much, I'd like to do a series of them, and did one of Princess Leia as well.

The Leia is available for $30, email me for shipping and payment info.

I believe the issue with the tablet had to do with the driver SW, as I know folks have had problems with that, but don't know that I'll mess with that again, as I just can't problem solve if something else goes wrong (and Monoprice has no support to speak of... as, you do get what you pay for).

FAN ART: GAME OF THRONES season one

Earlier this year I'd been working on a massive fan art for the first season of HBO's incredible Song of Ice and Fire adaptation, GAME OF THRONES. We're huge fans of the show, and I wanted to do something similar to my Lost cast fan art for it, so I worked up 14 plus characters to position in one sprawling line up...

After illustrating each individually, I finally compiled and finished the complete cast a few weeks ago, but am just now getting around to posting it, so here's the finished piece:
Featured are (left to right):

Lannisters: Tyrion, Jaime, King Robert (Baratheon), Cersei, Joffrey
Starks: Robb, Sansa, Eddard ("Ned"), Arya, Catelyn, Bran, Jon (Snow)
Targaryens: Khal (Drogo), Daenerys, Viserys (golden crown)

This was a lot of work, but also very fun, and it's great to see people's reactions at shows in person (and now online)!

When I started this, I thought it'd be cool to update it and create a new one for each season, but now that the ravishing season two is coming to a close... it's a rather daunting task to consider again...(and I'd also like to do one for Walking Dead)... so we'll see. :)

If you'd like to get some throne gaming art for your home, the prints are available in my STORE

Emerald City Comicon and Game of Thrones

Seattle's Emerald City Comicon has grown to be one of the best shows I do in recent years, and this year was even better. Thanks to everyone for making it a GREAT show! I wish they were all such well run, well placed, well trafficked, and strong selling shows!! I'm looking forward to next year.

I debuted my GAME OF THRONES fan art at the show, and with the fan frenzy around the show, coupled with the debut of the second season yesterday, completely sold out of my Stark family print by early Sunday. It's such a great show, that I really wanted to do some good fan art for it, so it's very nice to see people respond so well to it. Unfortunately, I also didn't finish the complete work, of the 3 parts - the Dothraki pair, the Stark family, and the Lannister family - I only had the Dothraki, and Starks... but will have the dreaded Lannister's completed soon.

In the meantime, I've added the first two parts to my website store, if anyone's looking to pick them up (either not attending the show, or missing a shot at the sold out Stark print), and you can pick those up HERE

Since I haven't posted any of the artwork to my blog yet, here's a look at Daenerys.
In total, between the 3 prints, the piece will feature 14 characters (and a bit more)! I'll be sure and post the finished complete work here when it's done, and add the Lannister's to the store then too.

Thanks again for the great show, but I think I can hear my DVR calling me to watch the season 2 debut!!!

First ever sketch card collection

Yesterday I talked about my killer new sketchbook compilation chock full of femme fatale fanart, and today I want to talk about another new sketchbook compilation, this time collecting some of my sketch card artwork for the first time!

JMart: sketch card art

The book is 20 pages, full color, comic book size, and showcases a selection of the licensed card work I've done with 5finity, as well as some custom/personal sketch card work. Each page features 3 to 4 cards, so there are tons of my best cards featured within.

Have a look at some of the works included...

I'll have the books starting tomorrow at Wondercon but if you'd like to, you can pick one up here now:

New sketchbook collection

Because nobody demanded it!

I've created a brand new sketchbook COMPILED FEMMES - a collection of my sketchbook femme fatale fan art. I went through all of my sketchbooks (2007-2011) and pulled out my favorite lady arts (and by that I mean the ones that made me cringe the least), to be in one massive new collection. And I mean massive.

The new collection is standard comic size (that's bigger than my sketchbooks are size wise normally), and clocks in at 52 pages (again, much bigger, 52 pages folks)!!! All full color, with 40 different works included, featuring your favorite female characters from comics, film, television, and comic culture. All that, and the books are only $10 each!!!!

Have a look at some of the works included...

I'll have the books starting this week at Wondercon (which I'll be at, in Anaheim this weekend, more news to come on that), but if you'd like to, you can pick one up here now:
